Texas Sales Tax for the Oilfield Services Industry (4hrs)

This course explains how the Texas sales and use tax and well servicing tax rules apply to the oilfield services industry at all stages of the drilling and completion processes.

This course starts with determining an area of interest, then proceeds through the drilling and completion of a well.

After discussing the rules for producing fields, we conclude with tax rules for workover, plugging, and abandonment.

We also review the Comptrollers recent change in taxing policies for oilfield services, including flowback, directional drilling, and others.

Texas Sales Tax for the Construction Industry (4hrs)

Learn how the Texas sales tax rules apply to all aspects of residential and commercial construction work.

We address contract pricing issues, new construction, remodeling, and repair/maintenance. We'll also cover issues arising with dedicated improvements, common areas, erosion control measures, and tax-exempt jobs.

We’ll also discuss the TERP, motor vehicle sales tax, and motor fuels tax issues along with strategies in minimizing their taxes.

Finally we’ll cover the special rules applicate to work done in declared disaster areas.
