Matt Pellows is a Tax Partner in KPMG’s Houston State and Local Tax practice. He has more than 19 years of experience in State and Local Tax (SALT). Mr. Pellows is responsible for a broad range of domestic, U.S. multi-national and foreign-owned clients doing business in the United States, and has extensive experience with a wide range of complex tax matters relating to his clients’ businesses. Mr. Pellows’ current and past clients include leaders in the utility, oil and gas, communications, and information technology industries. In addition to his work at KPMG, he has 5 years of experience in the downstream oil and gas sector working with Exxon and Crown Central Petroleum.
Examples of projects which he has led include:
Delivery of a Texas managed audit project resulting in identification of over $10 million in approved refunds.
Multi-state refund projects covering sales tax, state income tax, severance tax, and property tax.
Extensive experience delivering research and consultation engagements assisting clients to determine the applicable tax treatment to complex issues ranging from new product introduction, construction projects, revenue apportionment, nexus, and M&A transactions.
Mr. Pellows frequently speaks on state tax matters at KPMG’s formal continuing education courses, COST, and TEI.
